Vibration White Finger

Vibration White Finger, (VWF) alternatively known as Raynaud’s Phenomenon (or Raynaud’s Syndrome) or HAVS (hand/arm vibration syndrome) can be caused by the use of some high frequency tools and/or working conditions that expose the hands to vibration. Raynaud’s Phenomenon however can have constitutional causes.

The condition encompasses vascular disorders causing impaired blood circulation and blanching of the affected fingers and parts of the hand. It also includes neurological and muscular damage that causes numbness, tingling in the hands, reduced strength dexterity and sensitivity to temperature.

A prudent employer should be able to remove the hazard by substituting a low vibration method, reducing the grip needed to hold and control the tools or by decreasing exposure times. The risks of the VWF caused by excessive use of vibration equipment have been known for years.

If you feel that you are suffering from this condition we are able to investigate your claim on a ‘No win, no fee’ basis.

All initial enquiries are dealt with free of charge.
